Can you tell if the nausea is related to the uterine contractions? If so, those contractions should start easing up pretty quickly. Aside from that...I have no idea.

I've actually gotten the nausea and vomiting back as breast feeding has slowed down.

Are you still having the uterine contractions?

I get really thirsty when I breastfeed and still get nauseas if I'm slighty dehydrated. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and maybe lie down to nurse.

No I am not feeling the uterine contractions anymore. I think they have stopped. Maybe its the hydration thing. I delivered a week ago yesterday, and the picc line was taken out right after the baby was delivered. Maybe I need to keep my fluid intake up. Thanks for the advice.

Oh, I hope it's just mild dehydration! Please let us know how it goes.

It could also be the release of the relaxing hormones that allow for milk let down. Especially early on with Bella, I found that the "calming"effect of nursing was pretty strong, and at times even overwhelming. It has made me feel woozy & a little nauseous. Just in case its hydration related try to get in the habit of drinking a big glass of water at every nursing session.

When Rhylan was ity bity, I would get a feeling like I was going to pass out while nursing. Not like fainting when I was pregnant, it was different- almost an overwhelming feeling like I was going to fall asleep sitting straight up, and the world seemed "off balance". Is that sort of what you are feeling? I don't know if it was bouncing back from HG or the "relaxing hormones", but it did pass.

Kylla,

I did the same thing! With both boys. Why do happy hormones make you sleepy?

that TOTALLY happened w/ my first...every time i had let-down, i'd get a big fat wave of nausea. so, in her misguided wisdom, my OB told me to take reglan (had taken it during pg #1 but didn't realize it was the devil). so that started a vicious cycle of being depressed/having the sinking feeling all the time. y uck.

not sure what causes it...hormone rush, probably. with baby #2, i never had that problem AT ALL. of course, i had not so much as touched a reglan in about a year at that point, too Smile

good luck!
Laura

Oh, I had that happen too! That actually lasted for me as long as I was nursing, though it happened less often as Norman got older. Eventually it only happened in the evening during his cluster feeds. I just chalked it up to being sleep deprived.

Oh, yes. This is why I ended up formula feeding. It was so bad I would start dry-heaving while nursing and really, really feared I would Getting Sick Fast on the baby. I tried to give it time to see if it was just post-delivery HG hanging on, but it continued and I would just get the worst waves of nausea every time I nursed. I hope it goes away for you and you are able to continue nursing if that is what you want to do. I felt really guilty for quitting nursing, but in the end it was the right decision for the baby and me.

Huh, this is REALLY interesting to me.

Kylla, I also get that exact feeling. It's like it takes everything in me to stay awake. For me it was specific to when my milk lets down.

I have exprienced this with all 3 of my kids (still am) and I recently came across this website http://www.d-mer.org/

I have long thought that it was hormone related for me and was curious if it was in anyway connected to HG as well.
