Omg so I called my dr and his nurse called me back and said "the dr wants you to try b6 and unisom..have u tried the seabands?" WTF REALLY? Um yeah did you forget I was in renal failure twice and required a PICC with my last pg? Then the nurse says well we will call u in some zofran its the strongest thing we can give you (no phenergan) and he really wants you to try to see if this works before we have to deal with all the paper work for a short term leave
I'm so upset right now I guess I have to end up in the hospital in ketoacidosis before being taken seriously I don't understand he was agressive in treating me last time

There is usually no need to exaggerate, but I think even some exaggerations would still leave the description of how you feel during HG pretty flat.

Next appointment, make him review your chart with specifics like, "When did I have my first PICC line? Second? How long did I need the Zofran and Phenergan?" It should make him more willing to fork over the good stuff! My OB suggested I fill my Zofran and Phenergan at my first appointment "just in case" and I think she is fairly conservative (I say that because I had mid-lines not PICCs and she waited to see with my firt pregnancy, which was bad).

I hope he remembers ASAP.

oh wow, that's crazy that they're not being as aggressive this time. You poor thing. I'd be so pissed off and frustrated and ready to tell them exactly what they could do with this new conservative approach. I get pissed off knowing what a hard time I had with my first and it was just the wait and see approach, so I went untreated the whole pregnancy. This time it was like, here you go, what drugs do you want? And I was like what??? There are treatment options???

I don't get what it's so hit or miss with HG and getting proper treatment. I think EMom's leading questions of remind me when I got my first PICC might be a subtle start. Bring you SO if you can so he can go to bat for you in case you're too weak to advocate for yourself. Hang in there!

Maybe I'm just being sensitive but believe me when I say renal failure is NOT AN EXAGERATION and I don't appreciate being told I'm exagerating especially on here.

my diagnosis at that time was ACUTE RENAL FAILURE!! I had that twice spent ovr a week in the hospital getting sodium bicarb through my iv this is before I got a picc. And that happened twice. My dr even had me see a nephrologist at that time who said I was lucky I came in when I did. Look I'm am nurse I'm usually the last person to call the dr and wait til the last minute to go to the ER. I don't feel I'm over reacting this time I know what hg is capable of and I'm trying to prevent it

I can't believe your doc would say that after all you went through last time.
Is it possible that the nurse who told you this is clueless, or didn't even talk to the doctor?
Or maybe she talked to him and he didn't know that it was you and the nurse made it out like you were a first time patient who was presenting with HG for the first time?
I would call back ASAP and demand to speak to the doctor. With what you went through last time it would be downright MALPRACTICE to neglect to treat you.

I hope this gets sorted out soon! Good luck! Let us know what happens.

My experience with the nurse at my dr office is that they don't even look at your chart when you call over the phone. She always calls me back with some lame a$$ advice of what I should do. When I went to the Dr, she didn't even know my case or who I was!... that is until after was rushed to the er and admitted for the same reason. I called back and cursed two nurses out. Now no one in the office has any problem remembering me. Lol! Twisted Evil

Maybe you should go in and have somebody there that can be more aggressive for you. I agree, make them go over your chart. Or maybe consider going to a high risk Dr. I am. Finally!

I hope it gets better for you.

holy cow! 4 mg every eight hours and no refills??? Oh man I'd be on the phone trying for more. You've got to get better treatment than that. Maybe the nurse really was clueless and the doc will remember and go to bat for you so that you can avoid all the complications you had last time. Here my prescription insurance is what jacked things up for me. My doc was more than willing to prescribe, but my insurance would only give me three days at a time and then two days and then one day and then no more for a month. That was at the time when I was bargaining with God that I'd be okay if I had a another miscarriage, I wouldn't hold it against him. I hope you get better treatment soon. It's got to be doubly frustrating being a nurse and having been through it before to know exactly what care you need and aren't getting.

Good luck.

Can you switch doctors at this point? I'm totally pissed at him.

I was pretty peeved about that too. I guess that's policy or somethin not to see you til your 8 weeks. I got real sick around 5 weeks and had to keep calling and calling. I ended up getting in at 7 weeks but all the good it did because I had a midwife who was oblivious and I still didn't get diagnosed til 10 weeks. Smh!
