Well, I have really good Zofran coverage. I can actually get up to 140 pills (8mg) for $25. That would be a 30 day supply of 4 times a day. I could not believe how good my Zofran coverage was with our new insurance and that was one of the reasons we decided to have a baby now if we were going to do it. My doctor was also amazed. I will still end up shelling out almost $2000 for the rest of the pregnancy/delivery/IVs/specialists etc. but my Zofran cost has only been $100 out of pocket. I never get 140 pills at once because my doctor won't write the script that large, but I called my insurance and they said they would cover it. I have a 45 pill script with unlimitted refills.

I was very fortunate. Aside from the misunderstanding at first, I was able to get 30 8mg pills for my standard "name brand" drug copay of $20. Had it not been covered, those 30 pills would have cost me $998.

I feel so bad for those of you really struggling. I have some pills left over. I'd be happy to donate them.

I may be naive, but I was shocked to find out that some people in the US can't get coverage for their Zofran. Basically, my doc told my ins. company (Anthem) that they would either have to pay for the meds, or pay for the hospital stay. Since one night in the hospital costs about $1500, they were willing to help me out. Right now its saving me about $3000 a month! I don't know what we'd do without coverage. If you are having trouble, I would ask your doc to call the Ins. company personally and discuss your case. My doctor is able to get me approved for 30-day prescriptions, and we have to re-evaluate every month, but it is so worth the trouble. If your doctor isn't willing to do this work for you, find one who is... nothing is worth going without your medication!

Sorry girls for taking so long in replying to your posts, but things have been a little hectic around here for the last month and a half as my OB finds my blood amongst other things fancinating.
All Chemists here in Queensland have to subsidise it as it is on the PBS. Now, that is only for a box of 4 tablets. Anything more isn't subsidised.
So, chemist down there should also have it subsidised, but then it may be a state thing.
Good luck,

Kirstin

Kirstin - I've just found out that our chemist here in South Australia will do the 4mg box of 4 for PBS price ($4.60 for me!). The only catch is they wont do repeats, so I've got to get a new script each 4 days. But hey - it just divided my Zofran costs by 90%!!!! Thanks for letting us know, it has saved me so much money.

Hello,
I've also been on Zofran for the first time this pregnancy and found it much more effective than previous meds. My doctor prescribed the 8mg tabs (4 pack) which cost $84, $78 and then $4.80 at three different chemists on the Gold Coast (all with a HCC). Needless to say, we've stuck with the third chemist! I've also had the problem of an inexperienced GP and decided to see an obstetrician early who was willing to help quickly.
Now off all meds at 16 weeks and improving. Yay!

hey niki thats great that you are off the meds. i am 31 weeks and still need the zofran cheapest i can find is $135 for 12 tabs = 11.25 per tab. i think its different in QLD with stuff like that, (i am in NSW) my mum lives on the gold coast, and i am still on her pension card - even though i've gotten married, changed my address and name so i cant just get her to get it for me as it wont go thru! Sad anyhow, i can split the tablets in half some days now, so its not such a burden Smile

cheers
