HG Friendly OB in Upstate SC?

Postby justbishop » Dec 29, 2010 10:33 am

Hello ladies :)

I had what I'd label as mild-moderate HG (treated with 1 trip to the ER @ 6 wks for IV fluids and oral Zofran thereafter) with my last pregnancy (2nd pregnancy, first child), and my DH and I are starting to consider TTCing again in the somewhat near future.

I would like to avoid using the OB office I went to last time for various reasons unrelated to their handling of my HG (which was not horrible but not great either), but the only Dr listed here on HelpHER for SC is in Charleston, which is a 3-4 hour drive from me.

Anyone have any suggestions for OBs in the Greenville/Spartanburg area other than Greenville OBGYN?

I'm sorry, I'm in Sumter, SC and I'm looking around as well because of an insurance discrepancy. The office/drs are great, but there is one woman in the billing department that is just a righteous #$%@! and I don't have the "oomph" to deal with her at this very moment. Sumter OB/Gyn.

KarenJ is from Florence, maybe she knows someone better, I'm [thisclose] to pming her myself, she's a 45min drive from me but if it helps, I dont mind the trip.

I am from the Charleston area and am in desperate need of a new ob...do you know the name of the one that you mentioned?

My dr is either clueless in the area of HG or doesn't care. The day I was released from the hospital they didn't schedule to see me back for 4 weeks! And while I've been hospitalized and have home health care with zofran pump, they filled out my FMLA to state I had never been hospitalized and didn't require additional care?! So im done with them!!

Thanks. I saw she was the only one listed on the site but didn't see anything on their website to imply they were experienced in the field of hyperemesis. Unless, someone here has been to them....im thinking not!

I did get my dr to finally offer a referral to MUSC! That took weeks of asking hoping they have more to offer for care.

The vast majority of the people listed in the referral network are there because someone who visits this website for support has sent their name to the foundation to recommend them - so yes, someone from here has probably been to them, and that is why the name is there (but that person may not be active on the forums).

Rarely, people submit their own name, and those people are likely going to have a special interest in HG that would lead them to do that.

Hopefully the specialist visit will do the trick for you!
